The HEART for Women Act is simple, cost-effective legislation that aims to reduce death rates from cardiovascular diseases in women by making sure they are more widely recognized and more effectively treated. But time is running out in the current session of Congress, so we must act quickly with a strong show of support for this important bill.. Tell your Senators that you are counting on them to stand up for the women in your state by supporting HEART for Women today!
Dear Member of Congress:
When the HELP Committee considers the HEART for Women Act within the next couple weeks, I am counting on you to vote YES on the bill and oppose any weakening amendments. With heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases still the No. 1 killer of women in our state, we must step up efforts to educate women about their risk and offer assistance to control risk factors such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol. The HEART for Women Act is bipartisan, simple, cost-effective legislation that aims to reduce death rates from cardiovascular diseases in women by making sure they are more widely recognized among women and their health care providers and more effectively treated. The bill would help ensure that clinicians and their patients have better information about what treatments are most successful for them by requiring drug and medical device safety and effectiveness information be reported by gender, race, and ethnicity. It would also expand the WISEWOMAN program, which provides access to screening and proven lifestyle counseling for low-income, underinsured and uninsured women. Thank you in advance for your support on behalf of the women in our state!
